Lifetime Wellness and Nutrition:
This technical laboratory class specializes in all areas of food and nutrition and the effects on the body. The areas covered include, but are not limited to, nutrients and the benefits in the body, nutrition related illnesses, food storage, food borne illnesses, food costs, advertising of food, customs and traditions, meal etiquette, and food preparation.
Dollars and Sense:
This class focuses on the student as the consumer, especially in the marketplace, with the focus on money. The areas covered include, but are not limited to, management of money related to purchasing clothing, food, etc, family life cycle, housing needs, wise consumer practices, credit cards, purchasing a car, purchasing a home, and debt.
This class focuses on the areas of child development and how a child grows from conception into the school age years. The class information includes, but is not limited to, preparing for a child, proper pregnancy nutrition and practices, labor and delivery, infant development, toddler development, preschool development, school age development, child abuse, child guidance and day care options.
Principles of Human Services:
This class is the introductory class into Family and Consumer Sciences. Students will learn a vast array of knowledge throughout the year. The topics covered include, but are not limited to, decision making, peer pressure, clothing options, personal and family crisis, nutrition for teens, caring for children, job skills, apparel design, sewing construction, and personal budgeting.
